BTS Visits New York to ‘CONNECT, BTS’ “Daily Artistic Inspiration”

The group BTS appeared at the exhibition site in New York after CONNECT and BTS Seoul.

BTS visited Anthony Gomley’s New York Clearing 2020, a world-renowned sculptor installed at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 3 in New York, the last exhibition of CONNECT and BTS on Tuesday (local time.

The New York Cleaning” is the first large outdoor installation in a series of Antony Gomley’s “Clearing,” and the released picture shows the seven members standing in front of the piece against the backdrop of New York’s panorama beyond the East River.

BTS visited CONNECT and BTS Seoul exhibition hall located in Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) on May 13 to draw attention from fans around the world. The members appeared to communicate with the fan club ARMY by posting proof shots taken on SNS, including a large-scale space installation by British author Ann Veronica Jansens and an archive exhibition section centered on Korean writer Kang Yi-yeon.

CONNECT, BTS is a project in which BTS collaborates with 22 writers and curators in five cities around the world and covers not only music but also the realm of contemporary art. The world’s top contemporary art writers and curators support the philosophy pursued by BTS such as “positive to diversity,” “connectivity” and “communication,” presenting works that extend it to the language of contemporary art at the same time.

Antony Gomley, who previously participated in the CONNECT, BTS New York exhibition, said in a Q&A session with the members, “It’s really cool that cities and artists from all over the world come together to create something that connects. The idea that connection and communication can be strong through this project is really great,” he said, expressing his expectations for the global project.

Through AR docent, which the members can experience at the exhibition site, the members also expressed their views on each work, such as, “Through the performance of the artists participating in the exhibition, we look back on what makes us connect, reconcile and heal each other,” and “I thought artistic inspiration was pervasive in everyday life,” expressing sympathy for the purpose as artists who collaborated on the project.

Meanwhile, CONNECT, BTS has been successfully held in London, Germany, Berlin, Argentina, Buenos Aires, Seoul, and a total of five cities in New York, and the closing of the exhibition in New York on March 27.
